Diva # 6

Diva number 6, "The Octomom Diva" is here. My Diva series is not planned, they are born. Each Diva comes out exactly as she wants to be, I'm merely the facilitator. She looked like the Octomom to me. Does she to you?
The only exception to this, so far, is Diva number 7, coming very soon...
Observation: Many of my friends get beautiful patinas out of the kiln. I have tried coconut carbon and coal based carbon. One of my first two divas (fired together) got a reasonable patina. Since then, my patinas have been underwhelming, regardless of which carbon I use.
Alas! I must resort to torch patinas!

My Latest Diva!

My 4th? Diva is finally--almost here. (She hasn't been prettied up yet!) Introducing Warrior Diva--she came out looking more like an ancient Greek warrior. Oh well...some men like a handsome woman! She's my first attempt at a dimensional diva. She has a few cracks at the neckline. I may leave them to add to the antiquities effect.

Observation: The beautiful colors that you sometimes get on bronze clay direct from the kiln is more apparent on the back. Next batch of bronze goes into the kiln backside up.

My unending thanks to Lis-el Crowley for her patience and helping nature.

Been awhile...

I know...it's been awhile since my last post. I'll try to do better from now on. I haven't been doing much with metal clay--bronze or other, but have been busy with metalsmithing, studying under the phenomenal Suzan Rezac, view her gorgeous work at http://www.suzanrezac.com/.

I've been sidetracked, but have not given up, nor will I, on my bronze clay adventure--or my divas! What do you think of my "Secret Ingredient" necklace? I can't tell you what the secret ingredient is!

Oh, yes!! More news! Please save the dates for my first Art Sprees with Illinois Artisans at the Thompson Center in Chicago, on May 6 & 7 and September 16 & 17, 2010.

Hope to see you there.
